You have been warned
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah and the ten men who were with him arose and struck down Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword and put to death the one whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land. Jeremiah 41:2
Gedaliah, whose means God is great or God has made great was not originally from the ruling house.
Gedaliah was not from the ruling house in Israel or Judah. He was not ordained king, by the pouring on of oil on his head from either a horn or a flask. This meant that Gedaliah did not have the spiritual and internal endowment to be the ruling king. His title was not that of a king, but a governor, stepping into shoes he was not equipped to handle. Are you equipped for what you have been called to handle? the path you are treading on? Have you been seeking God's face for His support? May He support and equip you in Jesus name.
Gedaliah was warned of an impending attack on His life, but ignored it or could not do anything about it and was assassinated by Ishmael the son of Nethaniah (Jeremiah 40:13 - 41:3).
Gedaliah, who God had made great, would have become greater, because God is faithful: if he had continued following God. He may have achieved more impact and lived longer had he not accepted the post he was not equipped to handle, he also failed to heed the warnings he received.
Sometimes, we are warned by circumstances, friends and associates, we sense something is not right in the steps we are about to take, even after prayer, you still feel uneasy about it and have no peace concerning the issue, but you still proceed with it in order to flow with the crowd.
Dorothea S. Koppin rightly opined 'To get nowhere - follow the crowd;.
You have been warned that Jesus Christ is coming again in the clouds and if you have been saved by accepting Jesus as your Lord and saviour, you will go with Him to heaven, but if your name is not written in the book of life, years of suffering and wailing is ahead. The Bible states clearly:
BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. Revelation 1:7
Further,
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of [the] archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4
Don't be left behind. Gedaliah was the last person to rule in Israel. He neither lived to rule to impact the land of Israel nor 'enjoy' slavery in Babylon where there was a chance to repent, serve God and enjoy his mercy, faithfulness and establishment.
Peace!
