When push turns to shove in our lives, we may need to cry out to someone. Not just anybody; but someone who cares, someone who will listen, someone who will run to our rescue, someone who really cares, someone who can and will act on our behalf; intervene in the situation and come through for us.
Only God really cares. Peter encourages you to cast, throw all your difficult situations on God, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
In 2 Chronicles 14:11, a King - Asa cried out to the Lord in dire straits. He recognized that only God truly cared and He is the only one who is mighty to save, mighty to deliver and could help him. An army of over 1 million soldiers surrounded him. In modern day terms, Asa was surrounded by antagonists using assault weapons, white smoke grenades, targeted ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons. When he did not know what to do, how to do what he did not know to do, when to do it and who to go to help; - a state of confusion and helplessness - Asa and Judah cried out:
11 Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”
As Asa cried out, he was heard, God fought for him and Judah; helped them and delivered their hearts desire into their hands.
12 So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah, and the enemy fled. 13 Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many Ethiopians fell that they were unable to rally. They were destroyed by the Lord and his army, and the army of Judah carried off a vast amount of plunder.
Asa cried out to the only one who is worthy to be praised.
In this season, as you cry out to God, may you be heard, may God come through for you and all yours; grant you the desires of your heart; in Jesus mighty name: Amen.
