Text: Isaiah 51:2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. (KJV) Gaze to Abraham your Father and to Sara who conceived you, for he was alone and I called him and I blessed him and I increased him (ABPE)
Father’s Day We thank God for the opportunity to celebrate our fathers and honour them, especially those who have contributed positively to our lives. Our heart goes out to those whose father’s, brothers, uncles etc. are no longer here; because they have transited to the great beyond. We hope that the legacy they left behind will continue to testify of their good works and it will continue to be well with those they left behind in Jesus’ name. Our heart also goes out to those with abusive dads or who experienced abuse at the hands of fathers or father figures. It is our prayer that God will heal you totally in Jesus’ name. Look to your heavenly Father who loves you without any reservations. He is always there for you and will always be there for you. Your heavenly Father is the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-5) and may He comfort, strengthen and uphold you in a way no one can in Jesus name.
For those missing their Fathers for one reason or the other, may God, the God of patience and consolation (Romans 15:5-7), perfect all that concerns you in Jesus’ name.
A. We should rejoice and always rejoice because we have a loving Father. The attributes we are discussing today of our heavenly Father; should also be reminiscent in the life of our earthly fathers, by God’s grace. behold, pay attention to the good and great things he is teaching you.
B: Sometimes what our Fathers are teaching us may not look pleasant or desirable, but it ends up working for us and creating a bright and glorious future for the obedient. Abraham Lincoln said: "My father taught me to work, but not to love it. I never did like to work, and I don't deny it. I'd rather read, tell stories, crack jokes, talk, laugh -- anything but work". He later became the 16th president of the United States of America. The hard work paved the way for him and helped him succeed in the exalted position. By obeying his father, he became what he may not have become. May your obedience pave the way for your glorious actualization in the name of Jesus.
Note: 1. Father’s have to be careful to bring children up in the way of the Lord, since children naturally take after and behave like their father’s. Hence the saying Like Father like son, like mother like daughter etc. For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) May evil inherited traits in your life melt away by fire in the name of Jesus.
2. Father’s take care of their family and cares for them as our heavenly Father cares for us. But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.(ESV) If anyone fails to provide for his own, and especially for those of his own family, he has denied the faith [by disregarding its precepts] and is worse than an unbeliever [who fulfills his obligation in these matters]. AMP (1 Timothy 5:8) Pray: Father, help the fathers to provide abundantly for their families and others in Jesus’ name. Lord, do not let father’s lack or be stressed in Jesus’ name. Father, make a way for all our father’s in Jesus’ name. May God always make ways for our father’s to be able to provide for their families in Jesus name.
3. God has given the authority to bless children to the father’s 25He said, “Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s game, so that my soul may bless you.” So he brought it near to him, and he ate; and he brought him wine, and he drank. 26Then his father Isaac said to him, “Come near now and kiss me, my son.” 27And he came near and kissed him; and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said: “Surely, the smell of my son 34When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me—me also, O my father!” 35But he said, “Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.” 36And Esau said, “Is he not rightly named [e]Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!” And he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?” 37Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, “Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have [f]sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?” 38And Esau said to his father, “Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me—me also, O my father!” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
May the blessing of your father speak good for your life and future in the name of Jesus.
4. The blessings declared by your present father is greater than the blessings of previous generations. Jacob said in Genesis 49:26 “The blessings of your father Are greater than the blessings of my ancestors [Abraham and Isaac] Up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills; They shall be on the head of Joseph, Even on the crown of the head of him who was the distinguished one and the one who is prince among (separate from) his brothers. May you not miss your present, uplifting and overriding blessings in Jesus name.
5. There is blessing in submitting to the training of your father/parents Hebrews 12:9 Moreover, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we submitted and respected them [for training us]; shall we not much more willingly submit to the Father of spirits, and live [by learning from His discipline]? May the grace to submit to beneficial training rest upon your life in Jesus’ name.
Prayer My Father, My Father, let your divine blessings come upon my life and speak glorious things in my life and destiny in the name of Jesus.
