Text: Isaiah 52:12

For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your reward.

What are the implications of God going before you and preserving your ways?
1. Let God be your guide: In a season where many are unsure of what will happen next, it is important to listen to God and let Him be your guide.

In Genesis 26, Isaac heard the news of famine coming to where he was living with his family in Gerar. People may have been wondering what to do about the scarce commodities and higher food prices. Unavailability of some things that were previously available was now becoming a problem.
Isaac did not go down to Egypt as he had originally intended.  He stayed in Gerar as was instructed.  God blessed him mightily there. He went forward,  grew great and became very great; so much more that the original owners of the land began to envy him.

2. Listen to warnings and guidance from God. The Woman of Shunem was warned to flee from upcoming famine.

The Shunammite's Land Restored

1Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years. 2And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 3And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land. 4And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done. 5And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life. 6And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now. (2 Kings 8)

Receive grace to listen to warnings from God and hearken in the name of Jesus.

3. Only God knows tomorrow: God told Isaac not to flee, but to stay in Gerar. On the other hand, God told the woman of Shunem to flee from the land of famine.

In Isaiah 28:9-10, the Bible says:
9Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

4. Walk with God: It is God who knows the future and can instruct you on how to be preserved in the land of famine or how to be protected or preserved through upcoming situations that you do not know about. Hence it is of paramount importance to walk with God in this year and beyond like never before.

5. Preservation comes as you hearken to God: Isaac stayed in the land of famine and was prospered exceedingly.  The woman of Shunem left Israel,  she and her family were preserved. The land she left behind was restored to her.  All the fruits, the returns that the land yielded while she was away were also restored to her.

May good things you have lost be restored to you in the name of Jesus.

6. God will see you through it (no matter what your situation is): God has promised that even during the toughest of times He will see you through.
In Psalm 37:19, the Bible says:
They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,
And in the days of famine they will have abundance.

This means:

·        You will not be put to shame.

·        Even in days of famine and lack, you will have abundance.

Ø  You do not have to suffer what they are suffering.

Ø  You will not experience the evil and afflictions people are going through around you.

Ø  Isaac and his family did not suffer from the lack and famine experienced by the Philistines in Gerar.

Ø  Your experience can and will be different even though you are in the same economic situation.

The key is holding onto God in faith and listening to God rather than giving in to fear.

What to do to have God go before you and preserve you
1. Be born again
2. Develop a close relationship with God.
3. Listen to God and obey what He tells you to do.
4. Do not give in to fear.
5. Hold onto God in faith. Listen/read/study His Word. Don't be carried away by the evil faith-watering news that the devil is using to invoke fear in the heart of men.
6. Remain prayerful asking God what He wants you to do in every situation. While God spoke to Isaac directly, He sent a prophet to the Woman of Shunem.
7. Be thankful and honor God with your tithes and offerings.

In this year, news and events that will destabilize you will not come to you. It will not come near you in the name of Jesus.

Famine and loss of good things will not be my portion in the name of Jesus.

In Isaiah 65, the Bible declares:

21And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

24And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. 25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

…22No longer will they build houses for others to inhabit, nor plant for others to eat. For as is the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands. 23They will not labor in vain or bear children doomed to disaster; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD— they and their descendants with them. 24Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.…

In Genesis 41:8-44 God revealed future plans about the famine that was coming to Egypt.  More importantly, God gave clear instructions on how to navigate the famine so as not to be destroyed by it. We need to listen to and obtain God's pattern for preservation.  I pray that God will reveal to you how you and yours are to be preserved and move into wealth. I pray you will not miss it. You will receive it clearly, hearken unto it, be preserved and move into your wealthy place.

Part of God's design in famine is to move His people forward and into abundance.

·       Isaac moved into very great wealth during the famine.

·       The woman of Shunem was preserved through famine and came back into great accumulated wealth.

·       Joseph was promoted because of famine and became prosperous as the vice-

·       president of the nation of Egypt during the famine period.

You will not be left behind. Move into your wealthy place in the name of Jesus.

You will not experience loss of Property in Jesus’ name.

You will not lose any of your loved ones in Jesus’ name.

The plans of the wicked will fail over your life in Jesus’ name.

You will not be displaced in the name of Jesus.

The Lord will go before you to make a way for you and yours in the mighty name of Jesus.

The Lord will bring you to a Place of peace as you follow Him in Jesus name.

God will be your rewarder. You will receive the reward of the faithful in the name of Jesus.

May the LORD go before you to preserve you and let it be well with you and yours in Jesus’ name.

May these and much more be your portion in Jesus’ name.
