The Lord of Hosts – My Preserver!
Prayers
1. Lord of Hosts, preserve me in the midst of this world till you come in the name of Jesus.
Text:
Isaiah 31:5
As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.
Note:
Meaning of preserve and preserver.
Preserver has been defined as:
· a person who maintains something in its original or existing state or condition.
· a substance used to preserve food, wood, or other materials against damage or decay.
· to keep safe from harm or injury; protect or spare. to keep up; maintain:
· to keep something as it is, especially in order to prevent it from decaying or to protect it from being damaged or destroyed:
· to keep safe from injury, harm, or destruction
· to protect
God is the ultimate preserver. The Lord of Hosts is the only one who is uniquely qualified to preserve you and yours from death, destruction, evil, and all the works of the enemy.
God also protects you from decaying or becoming irrelevant.
May God, the Lord of Hosts, preserve you and yours until His coming in the name of Jesus.
Note:
1. You are the salt of the earth, to preserve the earth from decay
13“You are the [d]salt of the earth; but if the salt has [e]lost its taste (purpose), how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and walked on by people [when the walkways are wet and slippery].
14“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5)
May you be the salt of the earth indeed, shining God’s light and bringing glory to God in the name of Jesus.
2. You are to dwell in peace, to show the world that they can dwell in peace. (Isaiah 32:17)
17And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
18And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;
May your life demonstrate the peace, quietness, and assurance of God forever that will draw souls to God in the name of Jesus.
3. To preserve your life, you need to lose it in God to God by submitting your life and all to Him and letting God be the Lord of your life.
In Luke 17:33, the Bible states that: Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
May God give you the grace to be totally yielded and submitted to Him in the name of Jesus.
4. God’s visitation preserves you. Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. (Job 10:12)
That is why we need to be in constant touch with God and walk with Him as Enoch did (Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5)
May God visit you and yours in the name of Jesus.
5. God can send someone to you or before you to preserve you:
And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. (Genesis 45:7)
May God send your helper to you in the name of Jesus.
What should you do to enjoy divine preservation?
1. Be born again
2. Take care of the poor. Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble. 2The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will bless him in the land and refuse to surrender him to the will of his foes. (Psalm 41:1b-2)
3. Guard what you say, let your lips and words preserve you. By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them. (Proverbs 14:3)
4. Abide in integrity and uprightness to be preserved: Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You. (Psalm 25:21)
5. Be loyal, abide in the mercy and truth of God and in lovingkindness: In proverbs 20:28, the Bible states that: Loyalty and mercy, truth and faithfulness, protect the king, And he upholds his throne by lovingkindness.
