Remember Mercy
Prayers 1. Father, by mercy, deliver Ukraine from aggression and war, fight for Ukraine in your mercy in the name of Jesus. 2. Father, let your mercy always be upon my life and family in the name of Jesus.
I pray that: The Lord will grant you His mercy now and always in the name of Jesus.
Text: Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. (KJV) I have heard all about you, LORD. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy. (NLT)
Antecedents to mercy · Hearing God, listening to God and hearkening to His word and His will.
· Fear of God, which demands that you reverence and obey God. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. (Luke 1:50)
· Prayer and petition to God – revive your work. o Let good things that are dead come back to life o Let your will be done o Let your purpose be fulfilled o Let your work progress. o Let the gospel of salvation expand across the whole earth o Let those who are yet to hear the gospel of salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ hear and be saved o Let those who have heard and are still unsaved become saved.
· Pray that the wrath of God will be averted. If God were to mark iniquity, who shall stand, who will be found qualified, but there is forgiveness with thee, that you may be justified. It is the forgiveness of God in His mercy that delivers us from destruction, makes us candidates of mercy and allows us to stand in righteousness before God as if we never sinned.
· Understand that mercy being shown by God to us is not a license to sin. (Romans 6:1)
· Understand that mercy being shown by God to us is not a license to continue in disobedience.
· Makes known amazing works
Redeeming mercy As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12) 9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2)
Redeeming mercy: · Buys you back from the kingdom of darkness and brings you into the light of God · Makes you a person, a member of the people of God.
The implication of this is that without Christ, not having Christ as Lord and Saviour: an individual is not a person The individual is: · on a slippery slope (Psalm 73:18) · an entity without significance · an entity who has no substance · an entity who is empty · an entity without a future – the future awaiting such is heartache, problems, sickness, and eternal death in the lake of fire. · an entity/person who lacks the glory of God · an individual who lacks the presence of God
Transforming mercy 1Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (1 John 3) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. (1 John 4:17) His transforming mercy · Makes you have the nature of God
· Enables you to walk in the ways and light of God.
· Enables you to be like Him.
· Bestows the glory and image of God upon your life
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
In conclusion: May God have mercy on you. His mercy will deliver into your hands what labor, efforts, straining and stress cannot bring: 15For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” 16So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. 17For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” 18Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. (Romans 9)
