The fellowship of His Sufferings: Suffering in the flesh, imprisonments, denials etc.
Prayers 1. Father, let me follow your plan and fulfil your plan for my life and destiny in the name of Jesus. 2. Powers preventing me from walking in the fullness of God’s plan for my life, expire in the name of Jesus.
It is my prayer that: May attacks against you from the kingdom of darkness stop by the power in the blood of Jesus. May God cause you to flourish in the name of Jesus.
Text: 1 Peter 4 Christ’s Example to Be Followed 1Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 7But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. Amen. Suffering for God’s Glory 12Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
What is Christian suffering? Christian suffering is suffering allowed by God to fulfill His purpose in the life of an individual. Note that: God is faithful: The fact that we suffer does not make Him unfaithful. Our suffering is working out something glorious in the end. In Jeremiah 29:11-12, God says: 11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
Some examples of people who went through Christian Suffering.
Paul Paul imprisoned resulted in him writing two-thirds of the New Testament. You and billions of people have several New Testament Epistles to read, meditate and pray on because Paul was imprisoned. Paul himself testified that his imprisonment led to the advancement of the Gospel message of salvation in Philippians 1: Paul’s Trials Advance the Gospel 12Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have actually served to advance the gospel. 13As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14And most of the brothers, confident in the Lord by my chains, now dare more greatly to speak the word without fear. Paul also went through a lot of suffering. He took it patiently and walking with God, allowed God to use them for His good purposes. May the good purposes of God be realized in your life in the name of Jesus. Suffering for Christ 22Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. 23Are they ministers of Christ?—I speak as a fool—I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. 24From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. 25Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness— 28besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches. 29Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation?
Joseph Joseph was · sold into slavery, · deprived of his rights, · cheated, · wrongly accused of rape, · thrown into prison unjustly. This was his way to the throne. His way to glory, riches, and honor. May you enter into the glory, riches, and honor that God has planned for your life in the name of Jesus.
Jesus Christ Jesus suffering led to new life being available to perishing souls. 2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, This light affliction is working for you a far more exceeding (greater than, beyond, surpassing, above, more than you have suffered) and eternal weight of glory (glory, justification, gladness that has eternal significance and impact. This also means that this type of suffering enables your entry into heaven, removes weights of the enemy from your life and replaces those with heavenly, glorious, and eternally impactful weights that makes you a force to be reckoned with in the divine, eternal kingdom). Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (Hebrews 12:1) Ø You feel forsaken does not mean you are forsaken. We will look more at this later. Ø You feel unloved does not mean you are unloved. Jesus cried to God the Father that why have you forsaken me. God still loved Him and was working out His plan to glorify Jesus Christ and save souls from perishing. His glorification plan was at work despite the seeming forsakenness or unlovable stance been seen in that instance. You are being built up for glory through hope. 3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope: (Romans 5:3-4) Tribulation works in you resulting in patience, patience works further in you to produce experience and experience works in you to produce hope. Christ in you is the hope of glory. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (Colossians 1:27) Hope is an entrance into glory. Accessing glory therefore comes as well through matured hope. How do you mature hope? when experience is in place. How do you get experience? – When patience is activated. What activates patience? - waiting and going through tribulations - your experience of the good and not so good things you have gone through, you are going through and will yet go through. May plans of the wicked to assign failure, hardship and stress to your God ordained suffering scatter in the name of Jesus.
