The Trial of Your Faith

Prayers

1.   I will not faint; I will stand, I will be strong in the power and might of the Lord in the name of Jesus.

2.   My faith will not be shipwrecked. My faith will prevail and grow stronger by the power in the blood of Jesus

It is my prayer that:

You will pass every divine examination assigned to test your faith in the name of Jesus.

Forces of darkness will not weaken your faith in the name of Jesus.

Text:

1 Peter 1:7

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (KJV)

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (NLT)

What is a Trial?

·       a test of the performance, qualities, or suitability of someone or something.

·       a person, thing, or situation that tests a person's endurance or forbearance.

The Bible also refers to trial as proof or genuineness.

What is faith?

·       real trust or confidence in something or someone.

·       complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

The Bible defines faith as:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1)

·       Faith is in the now – present, active activity.

·       There is substance to what is hoped for.

·       Evidence of things not seen. This sometimes presents a dichotomy to people. How do I have evidence (physical proof of something I cannot see or currently touch?). Though not observable by physical eyes, it is fully comprehended, apprehended, seen and received in the spiritual. As the adherent holds on in faith, that which was seen and apprehended spiritually becomes manifested in the physical – becomes a physical reality.

·       It is assurance.

·       It has Certainty.

·       It has Reality of what is hoped for.

The Amplified version defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 as

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

Attributes of trial of faith

1.    The trial of your faith brings spiritual and physical pressure.

2.    It may look like punishment, but it is better.

3.    Involves waiting, the passage of time. You are going through a difficult situation which does not blow over immediately.  You may have prayed, fasted, given, sowed, and sometimes vowed but the situation is still there.

4.    The situation is orchestrated or put in place by God. Hence binding demons, the devil etc. does not bring about a change in the situation.

5.    Demanding that the devil remove his hand is a necessary component of prayer especially when you are not sure if the situation is from the devil or from God.

·       To prevent the devil from adding his own afflictions to your trial.

·       To uproot any unnecessary addictions the devil may have introduced.

6.    Trial of faith occurs because God wants to move you from where you are to a better state.

7.    God is not satisfied with your current level and wants to promote you by giving you an examination.

8.    God's comfort will be there with you all the way as He comforts us in all our tribulations with the comfort that only He can give.

9.    You/we are comforted so that we can also comfort others who are in any trouble with the comfort wherewith we were comforted by God. Who comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:4)

10.He does not leave you alone to go through it by yourself or in your own strength.

11.He has promised never to leave you or forsake you so that we may boldly say that the Lord is my helper I will not be afraid of what men and situations can do to me.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (Hebrews 13:6) Acknowledging that the Lord is my helper, I shall not want.

12.Similar to what God did for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo; He will bring out of the fiery furnace of problems tribulations and trials into a better state.

13.No matter what you have gone though or are going through God can bring you to a better place. God will bring you to a better place in Jesus’ name. Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. (Psalms 66:12).

5.    Do what He asks you to do.  If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. (Job 36:11)

6.    Don't do what He has asked you not to do.

7.    Don’t do what He has not asked you to do.

8.    Be patient.  For you need patient endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. (Hebrews 10:36)

9.    Be ready for long suffering. (Galatians 5:22-23)

10.Walk with Him by faith – Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
