Going Forward - The Shining Light
Your life will move forward in Jesus name. Your glory will not be suppressed in Jesus name. What God has ordained you to become, you will become and glorify His name in Jesus mighty name! Amen! Amen!! Amen!!! In Jesus precious name!
We have already seen the type of paths a person who wants to shine must walk in. Some paths or ways lead to destruction, some other paths and ways lead to life and glory, you will not be destroyed, you will not walk in the path of destruction in Jesus mighty name.
We have also seen the nature of the just person who will shine, how to become just and remain just till the end.
Today, we will be looking at an important aspect of being able to shine – shining itself. What does it mean to shine? What does it mean to shine as the light? If you are not currently shining as the light, what should be done? How can you remain shinning till the end?
Shine means: to emit light, to reflect light; glint or glisten. To distinguish oneself in an activity or a field; excel. To be immediately apparent: e.g. Delight shone in her eyes.
It also means brightness from a source of light; radiance. Brightness from reflected light; luster. Excellence in quality or appearance; splendor. To be radiant; gleaming, resplendent; brilliant or conspicuously fine.
Adjectives include: outstanding, glorious, splendid, leading, celebrated, brilliant, distinguished, eminent, conspicuous and illustrious. For example, he is a shining example to us all.
To be bright, brilliant, gleaming, beaming, sparkling, glittering, shimmering, radiant, luminous, glistening, resplendent, aglow. Your lives will shine in Jesus mighty name.
We could simply classify light sources into two: Primary and Secondary.
The primary source would be a source that generates light and a secondary source would be derived light, a light source that obtains, uses and displays light obtained from a primary source.
1. Jesus is the primary source of light. The Bible says in John 1:4 “In Him was life and the life was the light of men”.
In John 8:12, the Bible says: Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
2. Believer’s in Christ access light and have light by connecting with and obtaining light from Jesus.
Psalm 36:9 - The life-giving fountain belongs to you, and your light gives light to each of us (CEV).
Psalm 36:9 - For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light. (KJV)
3. There is no darkness in God – 1 John 5:5-6 5This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.
4. Jesus is the true light, all others are fake lights. John 1:9.
To be children of light and remain children of light
1. We should walk and live in the light and not in darkness
1 John1:7 - But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin (NLT).
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (NKJV).
2. Abstain from every form of darkness and let the Holy Spirit guide you:
Galatians 5:
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
3. Do not hate anyone: 1 John 2:9 - If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is still living in darkness.
4. Know the word of God, let it strengthen you to overcome the wicked works of the devil and his agents. Be empowered to stand your ground in the light and holiness.
12 I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. 13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father. 14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God stays in you, and you have overcome the wicked one. (1 John 2)
5.Hide God’s word’s in your heart by memorizing and meditating on the Word of God to prevent you from sinning and slipping into darkness. Abiding in the Word will make you abide in the light. Jesus is the Word, and He is the light.
Psalm 119:11 - I treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from sinning against you (CEV).
Psalm 119:11 - Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You (NKJV).
6.Win souls into the kingdom of God through prayers and preaching the word of God.
Daniel 12:3 - Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.
I pray you will shine, your light will not be dim in Jesus name. Every where you go, wherever your affairs are being discussed, you will stand for excellence, glory and brightness. You will be outstanding. You will not fail, you will not falter, you will succeed in Jesus mighty name!. Amen.
