King Asa! – No one but God!
Who is Asa?
1 When Abijah died, he was buried in the City of David. Then his son Asa became the next king. There was peace in the land for ten years.
2 Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the Lord his God.
3 He removed the foreign altars and the pagan shrines. He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles.
4 He commanded the people of Judah to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his law and his commands.
5 Asa also removed the pagan shrines, as well as the incense altars from every one of Judah’s towns. So Asa’s kingdom enjoyed a period of peace.
6 During those peaceful years, he was able to build up the fortified towns throughout Judah. No one tried to make war against him at this time, for the Lord was giving him rest from his enemies. – 2 Chronicles 14:1-6
• Name means ‘Doctor, healer”
• 3rd king of Judah
• Son of Abijam, an evil king of Judah
• Reigned for 41 years
Positives
• His heart was perfect with God: But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days. 1 Kings 15:14
• He built in time of rest: 6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. 7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. 2 Chronicles 14:6-7
• When push turns to shove in our lives, we may need to cry out to someone. Not just anybody; but someone who cares, someone who will listen, someone who will run to our rescue, someone who really cares, someone who can and will act on our behalf; intervene in the situation and come through for us.
• Only God really cares. Peter encourages you to cast, throw all your difficult situations on God, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
No one but God!
• In 2 Chronicles 14:11, King Asa cried out to the Lord in dire straits. He recognized that only God truly cared and He is the only one who is mighty to save, mighty to deliver and could help him.
• An army of over 1 million soldiers surrounded him.
• In modern day terms, Asa was surrounded by antagonists using assault weapons, white smoke grenades, targeted ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons.
• When he did not know what to do, how to do what he did not know to do, when to do it and who to go to help; - a state of confusion and helplessness - Asa and Judah cried out:
11 Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”
As Asa cried out, he was heard, God fought for him and Judah; helped them and delivered their hearts desire into their hands.
12 So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah, and the enemy fled. 13 Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many Ethiopians fell that they were unable to rally. They were destroyed by the Lord and his army, and the army of Judah carried off a vast amount of plunder.
• Asa cried out to the only one who is worthy to be praised.
• In this season, as you cry out to God, may you be heard, may God come through for you and all yours; grant you the desires of your heart; in Jesus mighty name: Amen.
Battle took place in the valley of Zephathah (watchtower) at Mareshah (possession).
Occasioned a revival: 2 Chronicles 15
Negatives
Relied on a man:
7 At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa and told him, “Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram.
8 Don’t you remember what happened to the Ethiopians and Libyans and their vast army, with all of their chariots and charioteers? At that time you relied on the Lord, and he handed them over to you. 9 The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.” 2 Chronicles 16
Did not seek God for healing:
12 In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa developed a serious foot disease. Yet even with the severity of his disease, he did not seek the Lord’s help but turned only to his physicians.
13 So he died in the forty-first year of his reign.
2 Chronicles 16

I Will Rise!
Jesus said “I will rise again” (Matthew 27:63) and he did rise again from the dead.
What does rise mean?
Is rising up from the dead easy?
"The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead." - Mark 9:31b
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. - 1 Corinthians 15:19
Why did Jesus die?
Debt bondage: To deliver you and I from a debt we cannot pay. Millions over the world are still in debt bondage, where the work being done for the creditor is being applied for the repayment of debt. |Debt payments are first applied to interest, medical and health expenses, accomodation, feeding etc, making it almost impossible to be free. Jesus has delivered us from debt bondage of sin that we cannot pay. Researcher Siddharth Kara has calculated the number of slaves in the world by type, and determined the number of debt bondage slaves to be 18.1 million at the end of 2006.
Way out ? Jesus is the way, the truth and the life out of every difficult situation and problems that are beyond the abiulity of men or doctors.
God’s plan: is that you will be saved from eternal destruction by accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior.
Jesus did rise
• Hear the testimony of Angels: And he said to them, "Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him (Mark 16:6).
• Mary Magdalene saw Him (Mark 16:19)
• 11 disciples saw him (Mark 16:14)
• Angels saw him (Acts 1:11)
• Over 500 people saw him at once he gave them instructions (Acts 1:9-11)
• He ascended into heaven in front of several witnesses (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:50-51; 1 Corinthians 15:4-8 >500 people).
May you rise; in fulfillment of promises.
"Don't be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look--I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. Revelation 1:17b-18
As we remember and celebrate the glory of the risen Christ, may you rise, from any difficult, lowly, challenging situation you may be in; may God’s glory radiate around you; may you walk in newness of life in Jesus mighty name! Amen.
As we celebrate the rising of Jesus from the dead, may you and all yours have cause to celebrate and be celebrated in Jesus mighty name! Amen! and Amen!! and Amen!!!
Have a Happy Easter!

Anointing Service: The Faithful God!
Is God Faithful?
Know therefore (understand, appreciate, be clear in your mind) that the LORD your God is God (there is no other God besides Him); he is the faithful God (reliable, dependable, does not fail), keeping his covenant (always faithful to His agreements) of love (His unfailing love) to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9 (Emphasis mine)
Deliverance from the spirit of Laban:
Laban answered Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, these children are my children, these flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine. But what can I do today to these my daughters or to their children whom they have borne? Genesis 31:43
Healing from long standing problems: John 5:1-9
Holy Communion
Matthew 26:
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Let's sing the hymns:
Psalm 113
1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, you his servants;
praise the name of the LORD. 2 Let the name of the LORD be praised, both now and forevermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised. 4 The LORD is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high,
6 who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
8 he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people.
9 He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children.
Praise the LORD.
Psalm 114
The Power of God in His Deliverance of Israel
1 When Israel went out of Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of strange language, 2 Judah became His sanctuary,
And Israel His dominion. 3 The sea saw it and fled;
Jordan turned back. 4 The mountains skipped like rams,
The little hills like lambs. 5 What ails you, O sea, that you fled?
O Jordan, that you turned back? 6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams?
O little hills, like lambs? 7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters. The communion
1 Corinthians 11:
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it , and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Hymns after the communion
Psalm 115
1 Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.
2 Why should the Gentiles say, “So where is their God?”
3 But our God is in heaven;
He does whatever He pleases. 4 Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands. 5 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see; 6 They have ears, but they do not hear;
Noses they have, but they do not smell; 7 They have hands, but they do not handle;
Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat. 8 Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them. 9 O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
12 The Lord has been mindful of us;
He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great.
14 May the Lord give you increase more and more, You and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s;
But the earth He has given to the children of men. 17 The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor any who go down into silence. 18 But we will bless the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 116
1 I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications.
2 Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. 3 The pains of death surrounded me,
And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. 4 Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!” 5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is merciful.
6 The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me. 7 Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For You have delivered my soul from death,
My eyes from tears, And my feet from falling. 9 I will walk before the Lord
In the land of the living. 10 I believed, therefore I spoke, “I am greatly afflicted.”
11 I said in my haste, “All men are liars.”
12 What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?
13 I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord Now in the presence of all His people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.
16 O Lord, truly I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of the Lord. 18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people, 19 In the courts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord! Change is coming:
Job said in Job 14:14b all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. His change did come, God healed him and restored everything he had lost twofold (Job 42:10); God gave him twice as much as he had before.

A good heart
And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God: But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days. 1 Kings 15:14
Asa did not do everything that he should have done, he tried his best, and God was satisfied with this, it was counted to him as having 'a perfe3ct heart'
And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. 1 kings 15:11, 2 Chronicles 14:2
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Do your best for God, He sees your heart and motives and can credit you with 'having a good heart".
Peradventure, that heart is not within you, God can create it in you:
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my laws, and you will obey my rules. Ezekiel 36:26-27

Cry Out!
Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!” 2 Chronicles 14:11
Whose Cry will He hear?
• Whose cry will God hear?
• Whose cry will God answer?
• The widow in Luke 18 was heard
• Asa was heard, when you seek him with the whole heart you will find Him.
• David said in Psalm 51:17 My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.
Then every church will know that appearances don't impress me. I x-ray every motive and make sure you get what's coming to you - Revelation 2:23
And all the assemblies (churches) shall recognize and understand that I am He Who searches minds (the thoughts, feelings, and purposes) and the [inmost] hearts, and I will give to each of you [the reward for what you have done] as your work deserves - Revelation 2:23
But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears - Psalm 18:6
As you cry to Him, may you be heard like Hannah and David; may the heavens open for you; in Jesus mighty name! Amen!!
Cry out!
